Kidney disease in top three catastrophic claims

Did you know that kidney disease is in the top three catastrophic claims conditions? According to the Sun Life Catastrophic Claims Report, chronic kidney disease/end-stage renal disease accounts for 7.8% of total paid stop-loss claims. Only malignant neoplasm (cancer) and leukemia/lymphoma/multiple myeloma (cancers) account for more stop-loss claims.

Stop-Loss insurance mitigates the risk of self-funding a health plan and reimburses eligible catastrophic claims after the stop-loss deductible is met. These claims are referred to as stop-loss claims.
