Recognizing World Kidney Day

Recognizing World Kidney Day

Today marks World Kidney Day, a global campaign created to raise awareness about the importance of kidney health.

World Kidney Day started 14 years ago to shed light on a health issue that impacts so many. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), over 37 million Americans have chronic kidney disease. One out of three Americans are at risk for kidney disease, and most of us don’t even know it.

The 2020 World Kidney Day theme, “Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere—from Prevention to Detection and Equitable Access to Care,” is lockstep with our mission at Renalogic for the last two decades. Our Kidney Dialysis Avoidance Program (KDAP) focuses on prevention through education and member empowerment.  KDAP’s specially trained nurse health coaches support members in delaying or stopping the progression of their kidney disease, including dialysis. Our nurses help members manage all stages of CKD and conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure that worsen CKD. If dialysis is needed, a member is supported in reviewing their dialysis and transplant options, considering their preferences and values.

World Kidney Day has rallied hundreds of events across the globe. We’re excited to champion World Kidney Day’s mission and spread awareness in our corner of the world, not just today, but every day throughout the year.

Throughout National Kidney Month, we’ll be sharing tips for kidney care.

We invite you to Follow us and support kidney awareness with us all month long!
